Shane Mann, P.E.
Deputy Chief Engineer
Shane Mann, P.E., became Deputy Chief Engineer at the Virginia Department of Transportation in November 2022.
Mann has more than 25 years of diverse transportation experience.
He joined VDOT in 2005 as an area construction engineer and served as the Richmond District construction engineer from 2013 – 19.
As district construction engineer, he managed a program of more than $350 million.
He oversaw completion of major projects, including:
- The Interstate 95 Temple Avenue interchange improvements and roundabout project in Colonial Heights
- The Interstate 64 widening project in Henrico and New Kent counties
- Construction of five sections of the Virginia Capital Trail in the city of Richmond, Henrico and Charles City counties.
Mann holds professional engineering licenses in multiple states.
His educational background:
- An associate degree in drafting and design from Southside Virginia Community College
- Bachelor's in civil engineering from Old Dominion University
- Master's in civil engineering from the University of Virginia
He lives in Chesterfield County with his wife and has four children.
