In Design: Route 58 (Gilley Avenue) Big Stone Gap - Safety Improvements

Cost and schedule ►

Public outreach ►

The primary purpose of the proposed Route 58 (Gilley Avenue) project in Big Stone is to improve safety between Hamblin Street and Ridge Point by increasing the shoulder along the eastbound lane to eight feet with pedestrian accommodations. Also, sight distance will be improved by leveling out a portion of the road followed by paving. The section to be improved is just over a quarter-mile in length.

VDOT held a virtual public meeting for the project in January 2021.

Benefits

Improve safety by increasing the eastbound shoulder, improve sight distance, and pave.
