VDOT completed the project to replace the Route 629 (Deep Creek Road) bridge over Middle Fork Kent Branch on Oct. 4, 2019. The project was finished on time. 

The project replaced the superstructure and riding surface of the bridge as well as the abutments and piers underneath the bridge. 

The bridge is open to all legal-weight vehicles. 

Benefits 

This project will rehabilitate an existing substandard bridge on a state-maintained roadway that serves residential areas, local businesses and industries.

If not rehabilitated, the existing bridge will continue to deteriorate and will eventually have to be closed to vehicles.

Public hearing: Dec. 13, 2017
Public comment period ends: Dec. 23, 2017
Right of way acquisition and utility relocation: Spring 2018
Construction begins: March 6, 2019
Construction completion: Oct. 4, 2019
