In Design: U.S. 15/29 at Route 600 (Broad Run Church Rd.), Fauquier Co.

SMART SCALE funding will add an additional left-turn lane at the Route 600 (Broad Run Church Road) approach to U.S. 15/29 (Lee Highway) north of the town of Warrenton, along with traffic signal modifications and storm water management. With this project, the through and right-turn lanes will be improved to enhance sight distance for vehicles turning right on red.

This project was requested by Fauquier County as part of their strategy to improve traffic flow at intersections along the U.S. 15/29 corridor.

A public hearing will be held in 2023 and construction advertisement is expected to begin in early 2025.

Benefits 

The intersection improvements will provide a safety benefit for travelers by reducing the queue length to turn left. The added capacity could also allow for signal timing adjustments to reduce motorists' idle time on U.S. 15/29.
