In Design: Dixon Street and Lansdowne Road Intersection Improvements
The project will build additional capacity at the Route 2/Dixon Street and Lansdowne Road intersection in the City of Fredericksburg. Improvements will include:
- Extension of right turn lane for Dixon Street traffic turning right onto Lansdowne Road. The turn lane will be extended to Oldfield Street.
- Extension of right turn lane for eastbound Lansdowne Road traffic turning right onto southbound Route 2/Dixon Street.
This project is being funded through Virginia's SMART SCALE transportation funding program. View the SMART SCALE project application.
Construction of this project will be advertised and built at the same time as a project funded to widen Route 2/Route 17 to four lanes from the City of Fredericksburg line to the vicinity of Shannon Airport.
Benefits
The project will improve overall safety and accessibility at the intersection. Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FXBGO!) bus routes on Dixon Street will also see reduced delays at peak service hours.
