In Design: Route 1/Enon Road Intersection and Roadway Improvement Project

SMART SCALE Dashboard

Cost and schedule ►

The project will build a two-way left turn lane, an additional turn lane from northbound Route 1 onto Enon Road, dedicated turn lanes at the intersection of Stafford Indians Lane and build 5-foot sidewalks along both sides of Enon Road. The widening will occur along 0.63 miles of Enon Rd. This intersection and stretch of roadway are in close proximity to Route 1 and Centreport Parkway intersection.

Benefits

This project is aimed to alleviate the intersection’s current congestion. A recent traffic study conducted by Stafford County highlights the current volumes at approximately 11,000 vehicles per day and multiple peak hours exceeding 900 vehicles per hour traveling on Enon Road between Route 1 and Stafford Indians Lane. Stafford Indians Lane is the main entrance into Stafford High School. Enon Road is currently a two-lane road and not designed to handle this high traffic volume.
