Coming Soon: Route 1 and Fall Hill Avenue Intersection Improvements
A project submitted for SMART SCALE funding by the City of Fredericksburg seeks to redesign the intersection of Route 1 and Fall Hill Avenue to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.
On Route 1, this project will add a southbound right turn lane and extend the northbound right turn lane. The project also aims to reduce conflict points on Route 1 by extending the raised median along Route 1 and converting a short portion of Amaret Street to a one-way condition.
On Fall Hill Avenue, the project would provide three lanes on both the eastern and western approaches.
New crosswalks and pedestrian signal crossing equipment are planned to be included at each leg of the intersection as part of the project.
Benefits
The project redesigns the intersection by expanding capacity to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow on Route 1 and Fall Hill Avenue.
The project also will also provide new sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian signals at the intersection.
