In Design: Route 2/Route 17 Widening, City of Fredericksburg to Shannon Airport

This project will widen Route 2/Route 17 from two lanes to four lanes from the City of Fredericksburg line to the vicinity of Shannon Airport. 

Additional improvements:

• 10-foot-wide shared use path along the eastern side of Route 2/17 from the city line to the intersection with Shannon Park Drive/Mansfield Street.
• Crosswalk and pedestrian crossing accommodations spanning Route 2/17 at the Shannon Park Drive and Mansfield Street intersection.

Construction of this project will be advertised and built at the same time as a project funded to extend turn lanes at the Dixon Street/Route 2 and Lansdowne Road intersection in Fredericksburg.
