Studies: Route 360 Arterial Management Study in Multiple Localities

Cost and schedule ►

A Route 360 arterial management planning study is underway by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), localities, the Middle Peninsula Planning District and a consultant.

The study is looking at the various intersections along the Route 360 corridor in Essex, King and Queen and King William counties to produce a plan designed to preserve and enhance the safety and capacity of the corridor through alternative methods.

This area of Route 360 between Hanover and Essex counites is part of the Arterial Preservation Network, which is the state-maintained portion of the National Highway System in Virginia.

The study will determine recommendations to address existing needs while looking at the potential for future development.

The study will encompass the following intersections with Route 360 in all three localities: Essex, King and Queen and King William counties from south to north:

King William County

  • Route 604 (North Carolina Road)
  • Route 605 (Manfield Road)

Arterial Management Plans use a holistic approach that identifies ways to ensure safety and preserve the capacity of the Commonwealth’s arterial highway network without wide-scale roadway widenings. Arterial Management Plans are a key component of the Arterial Preservation Program- providing localities and VDOT a guide to future development and supporting transportation network infrastructure.
