In Design: Croaker Road Widening

Cost and schedule ►

Public outreach ►

This project will widen Croaker Road (Route 607), between Richmond Road (Route 60) and the Croaker Road intersections of Point O Woods Road (Route 1647) and Maxton Lane (Route 758).

Proposed improvements include:

  • Widening of the roadway from two lanes to four lanes with a raised median
  • Dedicated right turn lanes at intersections
  • Dedicated left turn lanes at median crossovers
  • A continuous shared-use path on the west side of Croaker Road, between Richmond Road (Route 60) and about 450 feet south of Rose Lane (Route 760). This shared-use path will then run across Croaker Road with a High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk (also known as HAWK) signal and will continue to the library on the east side.
  • Pedestrian crosswalks
  • Additional bridge on the southbound direction to accommodate the new roadway geometry

Benefits

The purpose of this project is to add capacity and accommodate anticipated future growth along Croaker Road.

Widening the existing roadway from two lanes to four lanes, as well as the addition of a shared use path and crosswalks, will facilitate pedestrian, bikeway and metropolitan connectivity in a growing area with new residential housing, a public library, public schools and commercial areas.
