Recently Completed: Route 13 (Lankford Highway) Improvements near Stone Road

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has completed safety and operational improvements at the intersection of Route 13 (Lankford Highway) and Country Place near Route 184 (Stone Road).

The improvements included installation of a traffic signal, signs, and lighting at the Country Place intersection. The project also widened and lengthened the right and left-turn lanes on Route 13 to Country Place, as well as widened and lengthened the left-turn lane to Stone Road.

Benefits 

The improvements are designed to enhance safety in the corridor and create an efficient system to support a robust economy for residents in Northampton County.

Major Milestones 

• Utility adjustments completed July 2020
• Contract was awarded to Shamrock Construction Co. for $1,057,950 in July 2020
• Construction began December 2020.
• The project was completed on-schedule and within budget on May 24, 2021.
