Public outreach ►
The project team utilized a variety of media announcements to seek input from the public and to encourage participation from the public about the study. Outreach activities included location-targeted Facebook ads, electronic email flyers, website announcements, newsletter announcements, and an advertisement in the local newspaper. Two virtual public meetings were held to gather input about the corridor via GoToMeeting. The first public meeting was held on April 27th, 2021 in which a presentation of issues along the corridor were presented to the public. Attendees were asked to provide feedback on current conditions of the corridor and their top priority areas for improvement. The second virtual public meeting (attended by 19 individuals) was held on May 2nd, 2022 in which the public was presented and asked to provide feedback on the draft recommended improvements for the corridor.
In addition to the public meetings, two MetroQuest surveys were conducted as a part of the public outreach process. Parallel to the public meetings, the first survey solicited input from the public on the existing conditions along Piney Forest Road. There were 562 participants in the first MetroQuest survey. For the second survey, survey takers were asked to rate intersection and corridor improvements and rank the concepts presented. There were 99 participants in the second MetroQuest survey. More detailed information on the results of the public involvement can be found on pages 34 – 39 of the final report.
