In Design: Compton Road Shared-Use Path in Fairfax County

This project will construct a ten-foot-wide shared-use path along northbound Compton Road (Route 658) from the Bull Run Special Events Center Access Road to just south of the I-66 bridge, and from just north of the I-66 bridge to a connection with the existing Cub Run Trail. The project also includes widening the Compton Road bridge over Cub Run to accommodate the new shared-use path. The portion of the shared-use path under the I-66 bridge is being constructed separately as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Estimated Costs
Preliminary Engineering - $1.7 million
Right of Way Acquisition and Utility Relocation - $1.3 million
Construction - $6.3 million
Total - $9.3 million
This project is financed with federal, state and local funds.
Benefits
This project aims to improve bicyclist and pedestrian safety, accessibility and connectivity to the Cub Run Trail system.
