Please note: This project was completed in October 2023.
This project repaired the southbound I-395/Route 1 Exit 8C bridge that carries southbound Route 1 over the 395 Express Lanes, the northbound I-395 general purpose lanes and northbound Route 110.
The repair work included:
- Retrofitting and spot painting structural steel
- Replacing the catcher beam system
- Reconstructing the deck expansion joint
- Installing a preformed joint seal
The bridge was built in 1976 and rehabilitated in 1999. It averages 20,000 vehicles a day.
Estimated Costs
Preliminary Engineering - $1 million
Construction - $3 million
Total - $4 million
The project was financed with federal and state funding.
Benefits
This project will improve safety and extend the overall life of the bridge.
