This project rehabilitated the northbound Route 29 (Lee Highway) bridge over Cub Run. The bridge was built in 1954.
The improvements included:
- Replacing the concrete deck and bridge rails
- Installing steel beams
- Adding a walkway with barrier and connecting the walkway to the existing sidewalk just north of the bridge
- Rebuilding the concrete pedestals
- Replacing the bridge bearings
- Repairing cracks
Route 29 averages 22,000 combined northbound and southbound vehicles a day at Cub Run.
Estimated Costs
Preliminary Engineering - $188,000
Construction - $3.4 million
Total - $3.6 million
The project was financed with federal, state and local funding, including State of Good Repair funds used for bridges.
Benefits
This project improves driver and pedestrian safety and extends the overall life of the bridge.
