Please note: This project was completed in August 2023.

This project's improvements included a new additional left-turn lane from westbound Route 50 to southbound Waples Mill Road (Route 665).

Other improvements included traffic signal upgrades and a new bicyclist/pedestrian crossing and refuge island along the western side of the intersection across Route 50.

At the intersection, Route 50 averages 48,000 vehicles a day and Waples Mill Road averages about 25,000.

Preliminary Engineering - $623,000
Right of Way Acquisition and Utility Relocation - $46,000
Construction - $2.2 million
Total - $2.9 million

This project was financed with local funding and part of the concession fee provided under the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project Comprehensive Agreement.

Benefits 

This project aims to improve safety, traffic flow and bicyclist/pedestrian accessibility and mobility.
