About the Study
This study is assessing potential safety and operational improvements at the intersection of Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) and Manchester Street in Arlington.
There are significant backups and congestion during morning and evening peak periods. Route 50 averages about 55,000 vehicles a day within the study limits.
The study is assessing:
- Improving traffic signal timing and left-turn signal phasing
- Extending turn lanes
- Adding signs, pavement markings and signal backplates
- Pedestrian safety improvements
This study does not set construction dates for any improvements, but develops proposed improvements that Arlington County can pursue for funding and consider including in its comprehensive plan.
