About the Project
This project, in cooperation with Arlington County, is an initiative for pedestrian and cyclist safety, traffic management and street beautification in Rosslyn.
The work will occur along southbound Lee Highway (Route 29) between North Lynn Street (Route 29) and North Oak Street, and along North Lynn Street (Route 29) between northbound Lee Highway (Route 29) and southbound Lee Highway (Route 29).
North Lynn Street improvements will include:
- Wider sidewalks in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Improved curb ramps
- Upgraded traffic signals
- A new bike lane
- Decorative lighting
- Landscaping
Along southbound Lee Highway, the multi-use Martha Custis Trail will be widened to 16 feet and shifted away from the travel lanes. The top photo in the below collage shows the highway and trail pre-construction; the bottom photo shows a rendering of the widened trail.
The project also includes improvements to the intersections of:
- Northbound Lee Highway and North Lynn Street
- Southbound Lee Highway and North Lynn Street
- Southbound Lee Highway and Fort Myer Drive
- Southbound Lee Highway and North Nash Street
- Southbound Lee Highway and North Oak Street
