Study Details
The I-95 / I-85 Interchange Access Study is being conducted under the Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program. The study will evaluate transportation needs in the area and provide a cohesive suite of transportation improvements that address each study need within the study area and identify competitive funding applications that meet grant funding readiness requirements.
Study Area
The study area includes I-95 from Exit 53 (Roslyn Road/Ivey Ave) to Exit 50 (County Drive/Winfield Road) and I-85 from I-95 to just south of Graham Road.
Specific Project Needs to be Evaluated
- I-95 / I-85 and Crater Road Interchanges (Exit 50 and Exit 51)
- Washington Street and Wythe Street Two-Way Conversion
- I-95 and Washington Street / Wythe Street Interchange (Exit 52)

Study Schedule
Preliminary work on the study began in January 2023. It is anticipated that the study will be completed in March 2024, in time for potential grant applications due in August of 2024.
