Recently Completed: Chesterfield - Unsignalized Intersection Upgrades

The primary purpose of this project was to improve safety and operations by proposing intersection treatments at multiple study locations within VDOT’s Richmond District. Improvements at the following three intersections included bolt-down, prefabricated units and pavement markings to allow the intersections to operate as roundabouts:

• Otterdale Road at Harpers Mill Parkway (Chesterfield County) (Construction complete. News release information is available here.)
• Otterdale Road at Hampton Park Drive (Chesterfield County) (Construction complete. News release information is available here.)
• Bailey Bridge Road/Springford Parkway at Spring Run Road (Chesterfield County) (Construction complete. News release information is available here.)

Benefits 

The prefabricated units are made from recycled material and are considered a low-cost alternative when compared to the costs and impacts of traditional roundabout construction. Proposed improvements are intended to improve safety and operations at select intersections.
