This project is located at the intersection of Route 277 (Fairfax Pike) and Warrior Drive in Frederick County.
The project provides an extension of the existing right-turn lane from eastbound Route 277 (Fairfax Pike) onto southbound Warrior Drive, which improves access to Sherando High School.
Work also includes the relocation of a pedestrian pedestal on the northwest corner of the Rt. 277/ Warrior Drive intersection, and the construction of a sidewalk along the north side of Splash Avenue that connects an existing bike/ped lane to the entrance of Sherando High School.
In 2021 Route 277 had an average daily traffic count of 13,000 vehicles per day. By the design year of 2026 the estimated average daily traffic volume is 14,500 vehicles per day.
Benefits
This project improves pedestrian safety by providing sidewalk access to Route 277 and Warrior Drive. The project also which improves access to Sherando High School for motorized vehicles.
