Merry Point Ferry

Ferry Information

This Virginia Department of Transportation-operated free ferry is in Lancaster County.

The ferry can carry a maximum of six passengers and 16 tons. 

Located on scenic byway Route 604, it crosses the western end of the Corrotoman River.  

• Hours of Operation 

  • Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, 9 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
  • No Sunday or Monday service

Please note:

This ferry has one operator. It ceases operation for 30 minutes at midday for the operator lunch break.

Precise times may vary, depending on demand for ferry service.

Ferry service may also be affected by wind, weather and tides.

Signs leading to the ferry entrance communicate its operational status.

Service may also be briefly halted so the ferry operator can change information posted on these signs.
