Route 682 (Dean Hollow Road) bridge in Scott County closing temporarily
BRISTOL – Due to recent bridge inspection findings, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the Route 682 (Dean Hollow Road) bridge in Scott County today (Thursday, September 26, 2019).
The bridge is located over Copper Creek in the Nickelsville area. The closure is due to the deteriorating condition of the bridge beams.
VDOT has awarded a contract to replace the bridge, and anticipates construction beginning this fall.
The detour for the project is approximately five miles one way, using Routes 71 and Route 613 (Big Moccasin Road). The bridge averages less than 200 vehicles per day. (END)
