Virtual public meeting scheduled for proposed Route 11 roundabout in Smyth County

BRISTOL—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold an online public meeting this month for a proposed roundabout project in Smyth County.

The proposed roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of U.S. Route 11 and Route 660
(Railroad Drive) in Smyth County. Roundabout projects have been found to enhance safety, improve traffic flow and cost less to build and maintain when compared to a traditional intersection.

The meeting will be held May 27 beginning at 5 p.m. with a brief presentation followed by a question and answer session. The meeting can be accessed from the following link: https://www.virginiadot.org/Route11RoundaboutSmythCounty .

After reviewing the online documents and participating in the online meeting at VirginiaDOT.org/Route11RoundaboutSmythCounty, comments can be provided to VDOT until June 3, 2021 via the following methods:

- Call VDOT Project Manager Ronald Flanary at 276-696-3252.

- Email Ronald.Flanary@vdot.virginia.gov. Please reference “Route 11 Roundabout (Smyth County)” in the subject line.

- Online survey from the public meeting page. Additionally, a PDF comment sheet to print, fill out, and mail is also provided.

- Traditional mail to VDOT Project Manager Ronald Flanary, 870 Bonham Road, Bristol, Virginia 24201.
