VDOT Crews are clearing the highway of corn after a tractor trailer crash
CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation, Culpeper District reports the left lane in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 at mile marker 124 is now open following a morning crash. A box truck collided with a tractor trailer, which overturned and spilled corn onto the roadway.
It happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. VDOT crews are on scene helping to clear the roadway. Drivers are now able to get by in the left lane, but backups are still reported to be about 4 miles.
The on-ramp at mile marker 124 from U.S. 250 onto Interstate 64 westbound will continue to stay closed for clean-up, and drivers should avoid the area if at all possible.
VDOT’s Customer Service Center is open 24 hours a day to answer questions and take reports of roadway hazards. Call 1-800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623) or contact us online at https://my.vdot.virginia.gov.
