ROUTE 667 IN ALBEMARLE CO. CLOSING FOR BRIDGE WORK
VDOT contractors will replace the Catterton Road bridge over Piney Creek

CULPEPER -- Next Tuesday, Aug. 1, Route 667 (Catterton Road) will close to traffic between Route 665 (Buck Mountain Road) and Route 776 (Buck Mountain Ford Lane) so contractors with the Virginia Department of Transportation can replace the bridge over Piney Creek.

The existing bridge was built in 1932. It carries a structurally deficient rating and is in poor condition. The new bridge will consist of a box culvert and will be open to all legal loads.

Detour signs are posted directing drivers to use Route 601 (Free Union Road) to get around the work zone. The closure is expected to last two months to allow for the demolition of the existing structure and installation of the new bridge.

The project cost is $901,000, and the expected completion date is Sept. 27.

Updates on Culpeper District activities are on the district’s Facebook page and the district’s Twitter account, @VaDOTCulp. For questions or to report hazardous road conditions, the public should contact VDOT’s 24-hour Customer Service Center by visiting my.vdot.virginia.gov or calling 800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623).

Current traffic conditions, VDOT’s statewide network of traffic cameras and other real-time travel information is on the 511Virginia website. That information is also available on the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.
