FREDERICKSBURG DISTRICT: LIGHT SNOW, WINTRY MIX MAY AFFECT TRAVEL THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING
VDOT crews and equipment will be staged and ready to treat and plow roads as needed; Motorists should check 511Virginia before starting a trip for real-time road conditions

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is closely monitoring weather forecasts and road conditions today with light snow showers and a wintry mix forecast to potentially affect the Interstate 95 corridor and the Northern Neck starting Thursday afternoon, and continuing into Thursday evening.

VDOT crews will patrol I-95 and roads in the Fredericksburg area and Northern Neck this afternoon and overnight to treat roads for any icy, slick or hazardous road conditions that develop. Rain is currently forecast for the Middle Peninsula region, but crews will mobilize in response to any change in weather and road conditions.

Temperatures are forecast to be near freezing overnight into early Friday morning. Motorists should plan to use caution as any wet areas on the pavement may quickly become slick.

Motorists planning to travel are advised to check 511Virginia before starting a trip to see road conditions along their planned route.

Motorists can download the free mobile 511 app for Apple and Android devices to stay connected, visit www.511virginia.org, or reach 511Virginia by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.
