I-95 WORK ZONES NEAR FREDERICKSBURG
Expect daytime and overnight lane closures starting tonight, July 29 through early Saturday, Aug. 3

UPDATE: Crews must close the I-95 northbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 136/Centreport Parkway overnight in Stafford County as paving work continues in the area starting tonight, July 30 through early Friday, Aug. 2.

Tuesday

9 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.

The I-95 northbound on-ramp from Centreport Parkway will be closed.

Wednesday – Friday

9 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.

Both the I-95 northbound on- and off-ramps at Exit 136/Centreport Parkway will be closed.

Drivers are encouraged to access I-95 northbound at either Exit 133/Route 17 or Exit 140/Courthouse Road.  

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers should anticipate daytime and overnight lane closures on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area with various work zones scheduled for this week starting tonight, July 29, through early Saturday, Aug. 3.

Each evening this week, I-95 northbound will be reduced to a single lane as paving and maintenance work continues near Exit 136/Centreport Parkway in Stafford County. Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control near the work zone. 

Message boards will warn drivers to stay alert for the work zones ahead and possible delays. 

Weather permitting, the following lane closures are scheduled: 

I-95 Southbound  

Exit 136/Centreport Parkway to Exit 133/Falmouth

  • Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m., Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. and Friday, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. Saturday.

Drivers can expect a single left lane closure overnight on I-95 southbound between mile markers 134 – 136, which is located between Exit 136/Centreport Parkway and Exit 133/Falmouth. Crews will be installing work zone signs and building construction entrances to the median for the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project, also known as Fred Ex. All lanes will open by 10 a.m. the following morning, expect on Friday, when all lanes reopen by 6 a.m. On Saturday, all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.   

Mile Marker 138 to Exit 136/Centreport Parkway

  • Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Expect a single right lane closure on I-95 southbound near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to allow crews to inspect an overhead sign.  

Exit 140/Courthouse Road

  • Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

A single right lane will be closed on I-95 southbound near Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) to allow crews to inspect an overhead sign.  

I-95 Northbound  

Exit 136/Centreport Parkway 

  • Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. 

Crews will continue paving on I-95 northbound between mile markers 135 – 137 near Exit 136/Centreport Parkway. One lane will be closed in the work zone at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. each night. Motorists should be alert for a temporary, rough travel surface in milled areas. All I-95 northbound lanes reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.
