MULTIPLE I-95 WORK ZONES THIS WEEK IN THE FREDERICKSBURG AREA
Expect daytime and overnight lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound with ongoing construction activities or preliminary engineering work for Improve95 projects

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers will encounter daytime and overnight work zones on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound in the Fredericksburg area this week.

Various construction activities and preliminary engineering work will continue on the interstate for several Improve95 projects: 

Weather permitting, the following lane closures are scheduled starting tonight, March 11, through early Saturday, March 16:

I-95 Northbound

Near Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County)

  • Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound at mile marker 129, which is just before Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg) in Fredericksburg, and mile marker 136 (Exit 136/Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County. Construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project and preliminary engineering work for the future I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing.

Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth) in Stafford County

  • Monday – Thursday9:30m. – 3:30 p.m.

Expect a single lane closure on I-95 northbound near Exit 133, just north of the Rappahannock River bridge in Stafford. Expect heavy truck traffic between mile marker 132 and mile marker 134. Be alert to trucks slowing down to enter or exit the median at various construction entrances throughout the work zone. The work zone is needed for construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing and preliminary engineering work for the future Interstate 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

I-95 Southbound

Exit 148 (Quantico) to Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth)

  • Monday – Wednesday9:30m. – 10 a.m.

Expect a mobile operation with single lane closures on I-95 southbound between Exit 148/Quantico in Prince William County and Exit 133 Route 17/Falmouth in Stafford for utility work and geotechnical boring in connection with the future Interstate 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

Exit 148 (Quantico) to Exit 133 (Route 17/Falmouth)

  • Monday– Thursday, 9m. – 6 a.m. 

Expect a mobile operation with alternating single lane closures. Crews will be replacing the reflective lens on raised pavement markers. Motorists should expect slow-moving construction equipment and possible delays near the mobile work zone. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear. All lanes will be open by 6 a.m. Friday. 

Near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg)

  • Monday– Thursday, 9m. – 10 a.m. 
  • Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.
  • Friday – Saturday, 10 p.m. – 7 a.m.

Expect a single lane closure on I-95 southbound from mile marker 135, just south of Exit 136/Centreport Parkway in Stafford to Exit 130 at Route 3 in Fredericksburg. Construction activities for the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.
