FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Interstate 95 travelers can expect major overnight travel delays in Stafford County on most evenings over the next week as construction crews demolish the Route 652 (Truslow Road) overpass, which is located between I-95 Exit 133 (Route 17) and Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).
Intermittent full traffic stops for I-95 in both directions are needed on several evenings between midnight and 3 a.m. Traffic may be stopped for up to 30 minutes at a time. In between each stop, congestion will be allowed to clear before the next full stop.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.
Stopping all I-95 traffic is necessary to allow crews to use a crane to safely remove bridge beams and pieces of the bridge deck located over the travel lanes.
Crews are replacing the Truslow Road overpass as part of the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Drivers are advised to consider using Route 1 as an alternate route to avoid delays. Message boards will be posted along I-95 to alert motorists to delays ahead.
