EXPECT OVERNIGHT DELAYS ON I-95 SOUTHBOUND IN STAFFORD
All I-95 southbound traffic will be stopped intermittently between midnight and 3 a.m. early Tuesday, Sept. 15 to allow crews to move a crane near Exit 133 (Route 17)
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Travelers on Interstate 95 southbound should anticipate delays with intermittent full traffic stops scheduled overnight to allow crews to move a crane near Exit 133 (Route 17) in Stafford County.
Starting at 10 p.m. tonight, Sept. 14, I-95 southbound will be reduced to one lane near the Exit 133 interchange to allow crews to prepare for the full traffic stops.
All I-95 southbound traffic will be stopped intermittently between midnight and 3 a.m. early Tuesday, Sept. 15 to move the crane into place to lift the bridge beams on a new overpass for Route 652 (Truslow Road) later this week. The Truslow Road bridge replacement is part of the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Traffic may be stopped up to 30 minutes at a time. In between each stop, congestion will be allowed to clear before the next full stop.
Weather permitting, lane closures on I-95 southbound are scheduled at the following times:
Monday, Sept. 14 – Tuesday, Sept. 15
- 9 p.m. – 10 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
- Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes
- 4:30 a.m. – Two lanes open
- 4:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. – Single lane closure
If there is inclement weather, the full traffic stops will be rescheduled to the following morning, Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Message boards will be posted along I-95 southbound to alert motorists to delays ahead.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.
