OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES ON I-95 SCHEDULED THIS WEEK
Construction continues to improve I-95 with overnight work zones starting tonight, April 20 through early Friday, April 24
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and its contractors have scheduled overnight lane closures on Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area this week.
Starting tonight, April 20, through early Friday, April 24, overnight work zones are set for final construction activities on the Exit 140 Diverging Diamond Interchange and to advance work on the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project in Stafford County.
Milling and paving on I-95 southbound in Caroline County will also continue this week. Weather permitting, crews will work on Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. – 6 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 6 a.m. each day. A single lane may remain closed until 3:30 p.m. Click here to read the news release.
Message boards are posted along I-95 to alert motorists to the lane closures and possible delays ahead.
Weather permitting, the following lane closures have been scheduled:
Monday, April 20 – Tuesday, April 21
I-95 Southbound from Mile Marker 117 to I-95 Southbound Safety Rest Area
- 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. – Double lane closure
- 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Single lane closure
Tuesday, April 21 – Wednesday, April 22
I-95 Northbound and Southbound at Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)
- 8 p.m. – 10 a.m. – Alternating, single lane closures and mobile operations for line-striping
I-95 Southbound from Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville Road) to Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)
- 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. – Single lane closure
I-95 Southbound from Mile Marker 117 to I-95 Southbound Safety Rest Area
- 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. – Double lane closure
- 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Single lane closure
Wednesday, April 22 – Thursday, April 23
I-95 Northbound and Southbound at Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)
- 8 p.m. – 10 a.m. – Alternating, single lane closures and mobile operations for line-striping
I-95 Southbound from Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville Road) to Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)
- 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. – Single lane closure
I-95 Northbound from Rappahannock River Bridge to Exit 133 (Route 17)
- 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Single lane closure
I-95 Southbound from Mile Marker 117 to I-95 Southbound Safety Rest Area
- 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. – Double lane closure
- 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Single lane closure
Thursday, April 23 – Friday, April 24
I-95 Southbound from Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville Road) to Exit 140 (Courthouse Road)
- 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. – Single lane closure
I-95 Southbound from Mile Marker 117 to I-95 Southbound Safety Rest Area
- 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
- 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. – Double lane closure
- 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Single lane closure
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control near the work zones.
