FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close Route 608 (Locust Hill Road) over Dorrell Creek in King William County next week to replace two large pipes.

A detour will be in place while construction is underway.

VDOT will replace two deteriorated 40-foot corrugated metal pipes installed in 1974 with two new 32-foot concrete pipes. The new structure will also have new concrete head walls supported by piles.

Weather permitting, construction is estimated to be complete in 18 weeks and the road reopen in early 2021.

Around 100 vehicles a day travel Locust Hill Road, according to a 2019 VDOT traffic count.
