UPCOMING TRAFFIC STOPS AT ELTHAM BRIDGE
Route 30/33 traffic between the Town of West Point and New Kent County will be stopped for several test drawbridge openings between Sept. 24-Oct. 7

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Travelers on Route 30/33 can expect brief delays crossing the Eltham Bridge for several test drawbridge openings between Thursday, Sept. 24 and Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Route 30/33 traffic will be stopped for two 15-minute intervals between 1-2 p.m. on the following scheduled dates:

  • Thursday, Sept. 24
  • Tuesday, Sept. 29
  • Friday, Oct. 2
  • Wednesday, Oct. 7

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews continue to test electrical equipment that operates the drawbridge. New equipment was recently installed as part of a routine maintenance upgrade at the bridge.

The Eltham Bridge crosses the Pamunkey River and connects the Town of West Point and New Kent County. It carries an average of 21,000 vehicles a day.

Route 30/33 traffic will be cleared between each test drawbridge opening.
