BESTLAND ROAD REOPENS IN ESSEX COUNTY AT DRAGON RUN
VDOT state forces bridge crew completed a major bridge rehabilitation project today that replaced the bridge's deck with a concrete slab structure on concrete abutments and concrete piles.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 612 (Bestland Road) in Essex County at Dragon Run will reopen at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 11, after a major bridge rehabilitation project.

A Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) state forces bridge crew replaced the structurally deficient, steel beam timber deck bridge with a new 48-foot concrete slab structure on concrete abutments and concrete piles. The bridge was built in 1958.

Traffic had been detoured since construction began in mid-Jan. 2023. Around 369 vehicles a day travel Bestland Road.
