PAVING BEGINS NEXT WEEK ON ROUTE 3 NEAR NORRIS BRIDGE
Overnight delays are possible with Route 3 reduced to a single lane on Middlesex side
Thursday, July 13 UPDATE: Milling and paving operations on Route 3 near the Norris Bridge on the Middlesex County side of the structure will resume tonight, July 13 at 6 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday, July 14. Crews also need an additional week to complete paving work.
The work zone will reduce Route 3 between the Norris Bridge and Route 33 overnight the following week from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Sunday, July 16 through early Friday, July 21. A pilot truck will be used to guide drivers through the work zone one direction at a time.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 3 travelers can expect overnight delays on Route 3 near the Robert O. Norris Bridge with a paving project starting next week on the Middlesex County side of the structure.
Starting Sunday, July 9, Route 3 between the Norris Bridge and Route 33 will be reduced to a single lane at 6 p.m. until 5 a.m. each evening through early Thursday, July 13 for milling and paving.
A pilot truck will be used to guide drivers through the work zone one direction at a time.
Flaggers will be positioned at each end of the work zone to stop traffic while a pilot truck leads traffic from the opposing direction.
The Norris Bridge connects Middlesex and Lancaster counties over the Rappahannock River.
Message boards are posted to give drivers advance warning to next week’s work zone.
Paving work on Route 3 is scheduled weather permitting.
Work zone will only occur on the Middlesex County side of the bridge.
