ROUTE 610 PAVING IN STAFFORD COUNTY BEGINS TUESDAY, AUG. 8
Travelers can expect overnight lane closures and a temporary rough ride between Mine Road and Joshua Road as crews resurface the road and refresh lane markings
Tuesday, Aug. 8 UPDATE: Milling and paving on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) in Stafford County has been postponed to the following week and will begin as early as Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 8 p.m.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Beginning next week, travelers will encounter brief overnight delays and a temporary rough ride on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) in Stafford County between Mine Road and Joshua Road as crews resurface the road and freshen lane markings.
Work will begin the evening of Tuesday, August 8, and will be underway for approximately eight weeks, through early October.
Crews will begin by milling the existing pavement on Route 610 westbound near Mine Road and will progress west toward Joshua Road. Once crews have reached Joshua Road, they will next work along Route 610 eastbound toward Mine Road.
As sections of Route 610 are milled, asphalt crews will follow on subsequent evenings to apply new asphalt. Until milled sections are repaved, travelers will encounter a temporary rough ride. Temporary lane markings may also guide travelers until permanent lane markings are placed on new asphalt.
Lane closures for this work zone have been scheduled at the following times to avoid peak travel patterns:
Route 610 Westbound
Sunday through Thursday evenings, ending early Friday morning.
9 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Route 610 Eastbound
Sunday through Thursday evenings, ending early Friday morning.
8 p.m. – 5 a.m.
The approximately 4.5-mile resurfacing effort on Route 610 will cover 19 lane miles of road at an estimated cost of $3.5 million. The project contractor is Allan Myers, Inc.
Message boards are being placed along Route 610 to alert travelers to the upcoming work zone.
