VDOT crews will replace the bridge’s steel beams and install a new wooden deck and bridge rail.

During construction, drivers will be detoured approximately nine miles using the following routes:

  • Route 625 (Prim Road)
  • Route 629 (Round Hill Road)
  • Route 3 (Kings Highway)
  • Route 628 (Stoney Knoll Road)

Construction activity will be underway from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Weather permitting, the bridge repair project is expected to be complete and the road reopened to traffic in late May 2023.

According to a recent VDOT traffic count, approximately 124 vehicles use this portion of Prim Road daily. The 18-foot-long bridge was built in 1970.
