ROUTE 603 (LOMBARDY ROAD) IN KING AND QUEEN COUNTY WILL CLOSE NEXT WEEK FOR MAINTENANCE PROJECT
Starting Monday, March 27, the road will close for approximately two months to improve structure over Tastine Creek

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. The Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 603 (Lombardy Road) in King and Queen County next week to perform maintenance work on the structure over Tastine Creek.

It’s located between Route 14 (The Trail) and Route 609 (Iris Road).

Starting Monday, March 27, crews will close the road for the project for approximately two months.

Drivers will be detoured to the following routes, which is nearly nine miles:

  • Route 14 (The Trail)
  • Route 610 (Elsom Mascot)

According to a 2022 traffic count, Lombardy Road carries about 200 vehicles a day.

Weather permitting, the maintenance project is expected to be complete and the road reopened to traffic by early summer 2023.

This is one of several structures scheduled to be repaired in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula by addressing bridge scour. Scour is the erosion of soil around a bridge's foundation.
