UPDATE: MINE ROAD AND BENCHMARK ROAD INTERSECTION TO CLOSE IN SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY OCT. 2-13
Mine Rd. and Benchmark Rd. will be closed to through traffic near the railroad crossing for a Kinder Morgan pipeline repair under permit
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The intersection of Route 608 (Benchmark Road) and Route 636 (Mine Road) in Spotsylvania County will be closed from Monday, Oct. 2-Friday, Oct. 13.
Both roads must be closed to through traffic at the intersection to allow a utility provider, Kinder Morgan, to repair a pipeline in this area. This closure was scheduled to occur in September but was postponed to provide more time for the permit holder to obtain required detour signs.
Traffic will be detoured along the following recommended routes:
For traffic detouring from Benchmark Road:
Route 17 (Mills Drive)
Route 2/17 Business (Tidewater Trail)
Route 608 (Benchmark Road)
For traffic detouring from Mine Road:
Route 638 (Lansdowne Rd)
Route 2/17 Business (Tidewater Trail)
Route 608 (Benchmark Road)
Real-time updates on the road's status will be available on 511Virginia.
Message boards will be posted to notify travelers of the upcoming intersection closure.
When the intersection has closed, signs will be posted along the detour route to guide motorists.
Mine Road carries an average of 5,300 vehicles a day between the Lansdowne Road and Benchmark Road intersections, and Benchmark Road carries an average of 4,500 vehicles a day.
