HAMPTON ROADS WEEKLY LANE CLOSURES REPORT SEPTEMBER 10-16
Closures on Water Crossings, Interstates, and Other Notable Detours

NOTE: This list covers full closures of interstates, ramps, bridges and primary roads, and lane closures at the bridge-tunnels and the Berkley, Coleman, High Rise and James River bridges. 

*Scheduled closures are subject to change based on weather conditions and other factors.*

Bridges and Tunnels: 

Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, I-64: 

  • Mobile, single-lane closure eastbound Sept. 14 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel, I-664: 

  • Brief, intermittent stoppages southbound from 26th Street (exit 6) to the bridge-tunnel Sept 10-14 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • Single-lane closure northbound Sept. 12 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • Alternating, mobile, single-lane closures southbound Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
  • Single-lane closure southbound Sept. 13 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

James River Bridge, Route 17: 

  • Single-lane closure southbound Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Alternating, single-lane closures northbound Sept. 11-15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Alternating, single-lane closures southbound Sept. 13-15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Alternating, mobile, single-lane closures in both directions Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Elizabeth River Tunnels (Downtown/Midtown Tunnels):  

  • Go to Elizabeth River Tunnels for maintenance schedules on the Downtown Tunnel (I-264), Midtown Tunnel (U.S. 58) and MLK Expressway (Route 164).  

I-64, Southside Widening, High Rise Bridge Expansion: 

I-64, Hampton Roads Express Lanes:  

Hampton: 

  • Full closure of the off-ramp from I-64 east to Rip Rap Road (exit 265C) Sept. 12-13 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • Long-term, continuous single-lane closure on I-64 in both directions, reducing travel lanes from three to two lanes between Settlers Landing Road/Woodland Road (exit 267) and LaSalle Avenue (exit 265), with I-64 west traffic shifted to the I-64 east lanes. View the full traffic alert here. 

Norfolk, Reversible Roadway: 

  • Full closure in both directions: 
    • Sept. 11-15 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 
    • Sept. 12-15 from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. 

I-64, Newport News: 

  • Full closure of the off-ramp from I-64 west to Fort Eustis Boulevard/Yorktown (exit 250B) at Jefferson Avenue Sept. 10-11 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

I-564, Norfolk: 

  • Single-lane closure on the off-ramp from I-564 east to Route 165/Route170/Little Creek Road Sept. 11-14 from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m.
