BRIDGE ON BROOKHILL/FOWLKES BRIDGE ROAD CLOSED
Temporary closure for repairs starts Monday, April 22, weather permitting

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Motorists who use Route 621, Brookhill Road/Fowlkes Bridge Road in Cumberland/Amelia counties should plan for possible delays and a detour beginning Monday, April 22, weather permitting.

Crews for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will repair the bridge over the Appomattox River and close the road to thru traffic from the intersection of Route 13 in Cumberland County to the intersection of Route 644 in Amelia County. A signed detour will be in place.

The approximately 14-mile detour will begin in Cumberland County on Brookhill Road (Route 621) northwest, to Old Buckingham Road (Route 13) northwest to Sunnyside Road (Route 654) southwest to Stony Point Road (Route 600) southeast and, then, Stony Point Mill Lane (Route 620) before entering Amelia County. In Amelia County, motorists will take Reed Rock Road (Route 621) northeast to Route 621 (Fowlkes Bridge Road) north.

Repairs will take last several days and are dependent on weather.
