ROUTE 600, HALIFAX COUNTY BRIDGE INSPECTION
Width narrowed, lane closure possible
LYNCHBURG, Va. – An inspection of the Route 600 Bridge over Black Walnut Creek/Black Walnut Run in the Randolph area of Halifax County has resulted in the bridge width being reduced from 24 feet to 21 feet today (Thursday, February 7).
The initial inspection indicated some possible deterioration. Additional analysis will start tomorrow (Friday, February 8) and the outcome will determine if the roadway width changes further.
The bridge carries approximately 270 vehicles per day and is located near the Halifax/Charlotte County line.
Currently, barrels are along the downstream side curbing. Signs and/or other traffic control devices will alert motorists to any changes in traffic pattern.
