ROUTE 622, LYNBROOK ROAD IN CAMPBELL COUNTY CLOSED TEMPORARILY TO THRU TRAFFIC
Closure will greatly reduce long-term traffic impacts
LYNCHBURG —Motorists who use Route 622, Lynbrook Road, in Campbell County as a cut-thru between US 29, Wards Road and US 460, Richmond Hwy will need to use an alternate route beginning Monday, July 6.
Kanawha Stone Company, prime contractor on the Lynbrook Road improvement project, submitted a Value Engineering Proposal to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) requesting the road be closed to expedite completion of the project. The closure is expected to shorten the duration of the roadway reconstruction and associated traffic impacts by several months. The road is expected to be reopened to thru traffic no later than Tuesday, August 18.
Upon receipt of the proposal, the Department contacted Campbell County’s administration and emergency responders to discuss and coordinate this change.
Thru traffic will be detoured via US 29 and Route 683, Lawyers Road. Local traffic will continue to be maintained throughout the completion of the project.
The purpose of this project is to improve alignment and reconstruct a wider roadway, within the existing corridor and on new location, as well as realign the road to intersect with Lawyers Road and Waterlick Road.
