LYNCHBURG, Va. – Ronnie Short officially retires on July 1, 2021 from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) with almost 50 years of service to the Commonwealth.
Short, who spent his entire VDOT career at the Volens AHQ, started as a laborer in 1973 and quickly became a maintenance helper. In 1974, he became a highway equipment operator A and later transitioned into the role of highway equipment operator B before assuming the role of a transportation maintenance crew member.
“We are grateful for Ronnie’s years of service,” said Tina Englebright, assistant residency administrator with the Halifax Residency, “and wish him well on his retirement.”
