FAIRFAX, Va. – Temporary daytime stoppages are planned to occur Thursday, February 14, from 11 a.m. to noon on University Boulevard between Route 29 and I-66. Additionally, the turn lanes from Route 29 to University Boulevard will also be closed for up to 15 minutes beginning at 11 a.m.

The stoppages are needed for blasting of storm water drain trenches at the site of the Gainesville Park and Ride Lot being built near the intersection of Route 29 and University Boulevard. Residents and drivers in the area may hear loud noises and should expect travel delays.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

The work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project, which is scheduled to be completed in December 2022. The first part of the Gainesville Park and Ride Lot will open in fall 2019 with 960 parking spaces to serve carpool, vanpool, and commuter bus travelers.
