Lane Closures on 395 Express Lanes Begin This Weekend, Continue for Next 10 Weekends
Changes coming to eastbound Duke Street ramp to southbound I-395

FAIRFAX - The 395 Express Lanes from near Edsall Road to the D.C. line are scheduled to close for at least ten consecutive weekends, beginning this weekend, March 6-8. These weekend closures are planned to begin at 11 p.m. Friday nights until 4 a.m. Monday mornings, and are needed for crews to complete hydro-demolition and bridge deck overlay placement at Express Lanes entrances and exits at Shirlington Circle and Seminary Road, as well as drainage, utility work and other construction activities. Closures will not occur over Easter Weekend, April 10-12.

Travelers should plan ahead and allow extra travel time or take alternate routes. Work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

Ramp Change from Duke Street to I-395 South
Motorists are also advised that the ramp from eastbound Duke Street to southbound I-395 has been extended, resulting in a new merge point. The ramp will depart from eastbound Duke Street at its existing location, but instead of immediately merging with the southbound I-395 general purpose lanes, will extend and merge with traffic exiting from the southbound 395 Express Lanes. Traffic then will merge onto the southbound I-395 general purpose lanes. Drivers coming from eastbound Duke Street should yield to southbound Express Lanes traffic.

The eight-mile 395 Express Lanes opened on Nov. 17 and connect the 95 Express Lanes to Washington, D.C. Learn how the lanes work and plan your trip at www.ExpressLanes.com

The 395 Express Lanes are a public-private partnership between the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Transurban. See more details on the project.
