Overnight Ramp Closures at I-66 Interchanges with Nutley Street and Route 29 Centreville Next Week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at the I-66 interchanges at Nutley Street in Vienna and Route 29 (Lee Highway) in Centreville for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Details include:

Tuesday, October 13, through Saturday, October 17
Ramp from I-66 West to Nutley Street North
The ramp will be closed nightly Tuesday, October 13, through Saturday, October 17, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be detoured farther west on I-66 to the Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Metro exit, stay to the right on to Country Creek Road, continue on to Virginia Center Boulevard, then turn left at the traffic signal to travel north on Nutley Street.

Tuesday, October 13
Ramp from Route 29 North and South Centreville to I-66 West 
The ramp will be closed Tuesday night, October 13, between midnight and 4 a.m. for crews to reposition concrete barrier. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.


Wednesday, October 14, through Friday, October 16
Ramp from Route 29 North and South Centreville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly Wednesday, October 14, through Friday, October 16, between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. for paving operations. Traffic on Route 29 North will be directed farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Traffic on Route 29 South will be directed to continue farther south, make a U-turn at Stone Road, then follow signs to I-66 East.

The ramp will be closed Tuesday night, October 13, through Friday night, October 16, between midnight and 4 a.m. nightly, for paving operations. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 29.

Message boards on I-66 are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages. 

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
