Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges, November 21-24, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
UPDATE (11/22/2021): A backup night for the closure of the ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East will be utilized. The ramp will be closed Tuesday, November 23, from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for a traffic shift.
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Sunday, November 21
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. to midnight for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Westfields Boulevard West, stay to the right to Route 28 South, then follow signs to I-66 East. (Note: Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23, will be used as backup nights should inclement conditions occur.)
Sunday night, November 21
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4:30 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. (Note: Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23, will be used as backup nights should inclement conditions occur.)
Monday night, November 22, and Tuesday night, November 23
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. each night for barrier and ditch work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway)
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night for a traffic shift. Traffic will continue farther east, exit to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 234 Business North, turn left at the traffic signal to I-66 West, then exit to Route 234 Bypass.
Tuesday night, November 23
Ramp from Route 29 South Gainesville to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue south to the traffic signal at Virginia Oaks Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left-turn lane onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
