Virtual Public Information Meeting April 28 for Piggott Bottom Road Bridge Replacement
Participate and give feedback online; learn more at virginiadot.org/PiggottBottom
HAMILTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public information meeting Wednesday, April 28 on plans to replace the Piggott Bottom Road (Route 711) bridge over Branch of Catoctin Creek to improve long-term safety and operations.
The original bridge was built in 1932, rehabilitated in 1992 and averages about 140 vehicles a day. The proposed bridge will be slightly longer and higher to better withstand flooding, and includes precast concrete beams to reduce long-term maintenance.
The project is financed with federal and state funding, including State of Good Repair funds used for bridges.
